Welcome — I’m Charlett Millen, founder of SBBS, your trusted financial partner for small businesses, non-profits, creators and small e-commerce sellers in Canada and beyond.

I am the person business owners and accountants call when the books have gotten away from them.

I have spent more than twenty years in Canadian accounting, working the full cycle from day to day bookkeeping all the way up to audit preparation and financial reporting. Over those years I have worked with Indigenous non-profits, manufacturers, construction and trades companies, and growing small businesses, so very little surprises me anymore. I have seen the books that are months or years behind, the ones with duplicate accounts and transactions filed in all the wrong places, and the ones that need to be rebuilt almost from the ground up. Bringing order to that kind of chaos is the part of this work I enjoy the most.

Earlier in my career I ran my own accounting practice in Manitoba, where I designed accounting systems, wrote the policies and procedures that kept them running, and hired and trained the finance staff who used them. That is why I do not simply fix the numbers and hand them back. I set things up so they stay fixed, and I make sure you understand what you are looking at when I am done.

I am a QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor, and I work every day in both QuickBooks Online and Xero. My focus is the work that many bookkeepers would rather avoid, which is cleanups, catch-ups, financial reconstruction, and getting records audit ready. When the job is finished, I hand your accountant a clean, documented working paper package they can take straight to your return, and I am happy to work alongside them through tax season.

My practice is fully virtual, so I work with clients across Canada wherever they happen to be. I keep communication simple and direct, I respond when you reach out, and I will never make you feel embarrassed about the state of your books. Most of my clients came to me precisely because things had become a mess. There is no judgment here, only a clear plan to put it right.
